about

We have sat silent through the tests of times. We the people, have witnessed our governments, taking our lives one after another. These governments are killing their own people. Nature is devouring us. No need for more.
People of Iran and people of America:
This song is for your struggle to spread love and stay alive.
We don’t want war, we don’t want sanctions that foremost effects the poor working class.
We demand America healing its own.
We demand Iran caring for its own.
176 people (and many more) should be remembered while listening to this song

For this song, I share two poems by Ahmad Shamloo (First and last part) and
Hussein Panahi (Middle part)
Words are in Farsi. Here is the translated version

I am not a story you can tell
Nor a melody you can chant
I am not a sound you can hear
Or a thing for you to watch
Nor something that you know of
(yet) I am the common
(so) scream my name

a Table to work on
A Job to buy a bed with
a Bed to get sleep on
a Sleep to keep living on
a Life that dies after
a Death to be remembered
Remembering because of a stone
This has been life

These are strange days...
We have endured disasters
We have suffered loneliness
And now
We pulse
At the bottom of the ashes
These are strange days...

Video and visual art for this song is done by my amazing Daf student: Sanaz Khalaj Santos.
Dedicated to Iran

lyrics

I am not a story you can tell
Nor a melody you can chant
I am not a sound you can hear
Or a thing for you to watch
Nor something that you know of
(yet) I am the common pain
(so) scream my name

a Table to work on
a Job to buy a bed with
a Bed to get sleep on
a Sleep to keep living on
a Life to die for
a Death to be remembered
Remembering because of a stone
This has been life

These are strange days...
We have endured disasters
We have suffered loneliness
And now
We pulse
At the bottom of the ashes
These are strange days...
